The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking a Clinician to join our Regional Programs Team! The successful candidate will perform intermediate professional work providing direct clinical services to clients housed on the Jail-Based Restoration Unit (JBRU) at Riverside Regional Jail (RRJ). Services include assessments, prevention services, care coordination, competency restoration, and therapeutic interventions. Maintains records and files, prepares reports, and completes other related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned Program Supervisor.

Essential Functions

The essential duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Other duties may be assigned.

Deliver competency restoration and therapeutic services to individuals and groups under clinical supervision

Conduct assessments and contribute to treatment planning

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support client care

Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, and case reviews

Support crisis intervention and safety planning as needed

Promote recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices

Provide discharge planning services, including engagement and rapport-building; referring and connecting with appropriate services including mental health, substance use, medical, and natural supports; and assist clients in applying for benefits

Provide housing assistance; monitor the agreed upon support plan and transitioning of services to community supports for continuity of care

Collaborate and coordinate with Region 4 CSBs, including Housing Specialists and Peers, on a frequent basis

Attend professional conferences and trainings as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of the principles and practices of providing care to individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders, serious mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders; general knowledge of community resources and human services network; general knowledge of community-based behavioral health principles and psychotherapeutic treatment techniques; general knowledge of the theories and techniques of counseling and crisis intervention; thorough knowledge of intake techniques and procedures; ability to evaluate and screen clients; ability to prepare adequate records and to report findings and data effectively; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, consultants, community partners, law enforcement, associates and the general public.

 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience

Master’s degree with coursework in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field and moderate experience working with clients with behavioral health disorders and/or developmental disabilities in a behavioral healthcare and/or correctional setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Physical Requirements

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions; worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.

 

Special Requirements

Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

CPR, CPI, Medication Technician and Prescreener certifications.

QMHP, CSAC, CADC or certification/license eligible preferred.

**Continued employment is contingent upon ongoing funding and program performance requirments.

This position is located at Riverside Regional Jail in Prince George, VA

Starting Salary Range $59,584.73
