The Siena Research Institute conducts surveys on various topics of social and public importance. The Telephone Interviewer is responsible for conducting telephone interviews with respondents using standardized interviewing techniques, and accurately recording responses using the Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) System or in writing.
Telephone Interviewers will work as part of a team and use specifically designed questionnaires and follow very specific instructions, which are to be strictly adhered to. Telephone Interviewers will be responsible for the following tasks:
- The first involves making the initial contact with a potential respondent and making the potential respondent feel, at the least, at ease and positive about cooperating in an interview, is important.
- The second role is conducting an interview. This requires an Interviewer to ask questions that are put to everyone in the survey in exactly the same way - and in a neutral manner that does not imply any expectation of a "right" or "wrong" answer.
- The third role is to record all the relevant responses (i.e. what the respondent says and/or does) as accurately as possible.
