The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking a Program Supervisor l/ll to join our Regional Programs Team! The preferred candidate will perform difficult professional and administrative work coordinating, supervising, and monitoring the daily operation of the Region 4 Jail Team and the Jail-Based Restoration Unit (JBRU) at Riverside Regional Jail. Supervises the work of staff within assigned programs, ensures the quality of program services, coordinates services with other divisions and community partners, collects and analyzes data, oversees discharge planning, maintains records and files, prepares reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the assigned Regional Programs Manager. Supervision is exercised over subordinate personnel.

Essential Functions

Provides individual/group therapy and competency restoration services for individuals on the JBRU.

Provides forensic coordination and collaborates with courts, attorneys, and other community partners in the process of responding to court orders.

Monitors medication compliance of assigned consumers; coordinates care with jail mental health staff; and maintains medical records in accordance with standards.

Records all services in the EHR within the established time frame set forth by policy and standards.

Provides crisis intervention services to individuals, as necessary and appropriate, and notifies jail mental health staff of any emergent mental health crises.

Supervises clinical and consumer monitoring activities of the Region 4 Jail Team; ensures health, safety and welfare of consumers; plans, organizes, directs and supervises assigned staff; supervises crisis interventions.

Sets program priorities; monitors and evaluates service delivery in accordance with established guidelines and principles; develops and enforces program policies and procedures.

Assists with the recruitment and selection of Region 4 Jail Team staff; assigns, directs, trains and inspects the work of staff; disciplines, coaches, counsels and evaluates staff performance; recommends suspensions and termination; develops staff schedules, monitors and approves leave, prepares and submits timesheets for payroll.

Monitors and audits clinical and medical records and practices for compliance with regulatory, reimbursement and agency standards; reviews documentation for accuracy.

Consults and coordinates treatment with other service providers and consumer support system. Reviews, tracks and analyzes reports; prepares and submits reports.

Manages program budgets; reviews accuracy of program and contract billing; and reviews service activity logs.

Prepares and distributes correspondence to staff to improve communication and shares important announcements, deadlines, changes, etc.

Serves on a variety of committees as directed; attends and participates in a variety of meetings.

Attends professional conferences and trainings as required.

 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience

Master's degree with coursework in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field and considerable experience providing community-based mental health services including supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in behavioral health in a criminal justice setting preferred.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

Special Requirements

QMHP, QSAP or QIDP certification.

Valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Licensure as a professional counselor or clinical social worker preferred.

**Continued employment is contingent upon ongoing funding and program performance requirments.

This a hybrid position with an office at Central State Hospital in Petersburg, VA.

Starting Salary Range Program Supervisor I (Licensed Eligible) $64,342.85 or DOQ | Program Supervisor II (Licensed) $70,937.99 or DOQ
