AREA15 is seeking a highly collaborative, creatively-driven Creative Director to serve as the operational and creative nexus for all experiential activations - both public and private. This pivotal role goes beyond traditional event production, overseeing the development and execution of immersive experiences, venue theming, and artistic installations that bring the AREA15 ethos to life. This individual will lead concept realization from pitch to post-mortem, serve as the primary liaison between creative vision and operational execution, and help shape the ever-evolving physical and atmospheric narrative of our venue.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Translate high-concept creative strategies from the Director of Experiential into fully executable plans.
  • Develop and own show bibles and SOP documents for each event, activation, or installation that includes timelines, scopes, production notes, diagrams, and run-of-show logistics, and maintenance.
  • Participate in pitch development for internal programming and external client-facing proposals.
  • Lead on-site execution of public spectacles, themed parties, festivals, and private corporate activations.
  • Serve as the project lead for venue-wide environmental design efforts-both seasonal and permanent.
  • Collaborate on artistic direction for spatial transformations across high-traffic guest zones, ensuring continuity of AREA15's design language.
  • Oversee the ideation, fabrication, and installation of immersive environments, modular theming, scenic builds, and site-specific art integrations.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of existing venue theming elements and how to enhance or repurpose them creatively.
  • Act as a central liaison between Creative, Operations, F&B, Technical Production, Facilities, and Marketing to ensure alignment across all teams.
  • Lead interdepartmental meetings and production schedules related to experiential activations and venue design projects.
  • Manage internal coordinators and assign tasks across phases of planning and execution.
  • Support talent sourcing in collaboration with the Programming team, including costumed characters, DJs, specialty performers, and immersive hosts.
  • Integrate talent into the creative experience through rehearsals, blocking, and spatial planning.
  • Source, contract, and manage vendors for décor, scenic elements, custom builds, and event rentals.
  • Ensure fabrication quality meets AREA15 standards and creative intent.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and develop a preferred vendor ecosystem for efficient scaling.
  • Source or fabricate props, scenic elements, lighting, and visual texture materials for immersive builds and experiential vignettes.
  • Assist in visual merchandising and styling of installations or themed zones, including 'Instagrammable moments.'
  • Participate in moodboarding, material selections, and scenic paint treatments as needed.
  • Track and manage individual project budgets in collaboration with the Director of Experiential.
  • Manage overall departmental budgets as well as budgets for each event, ensuring accurate forecasting, tracking, and reconciliation.
  • Oversee and maintain the annual event calendar, ensuring alignment across internal teams and proactive planning for major activations.
  • Ensure cost-efficient solutions that preserve creative integrity.
  • Document and establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recurring programs or thematic packages.
  • Conduct QA walk-throughs during load-ins, rehearsals, and event execution.
  • Identify risks or creative deviations and course-correct in real time.
  • Lead post-event debriefs to identify performance gaps and opportunities for innovation.
  • Support the expansion of programming into District 2 and future districts, helping to adapt and evolve immersive experiences across newly developed spaces within AREA15.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Experiential and cross-functional teams to conceptualize and execute programming that aligns with the creative direction and long-term vision of District 2's evolution.
  • Contribute to the creative planning and activation of future District 2 initiatives, ensuring continuity with AREA15's brand ethos and guest experience standards.
  • Demonstrate ART! (AREA15's service standards) in every guest interaction.
  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional, polished appearance in line with AREA15 standards.
  • Work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • 4–6 years of experience in immersive, theatrical, or experiential production roles.
  • Demonstrated experience with both event execution and spatial theming/design.
  • Ability to lead projects from ideation through post-production.
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills; familiarity with creative production software a plus (Google Workspace, Asana, SketchUp, Adobe, etc.)
  • Strong vendor/fabrication network and ability to source materials or talent quickly.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving creative environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to work nontraditional hours and hands-on with build/install crews when needed.
  • Background in themed entertainment, nightlife, immersive theater, or large-scale activations.
  • Experience working within operational venues and cross-department environments.
  • Familiarity with art handling, scenic fabrication, theatrical tech, or lighting design is a plus.
  • Comfort working with unconventional materials and rapid prototyping.
  • Comfortable working in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment, introducing new concepts and innovations.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions including but not limited to extreme heat, sun exposure, wind, rain, extreme cold.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft applications. (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Availability for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, flashing lights, and smoke.
