About the Organization Our company was incorporated in 1984 within the State of North Carolina, and opened its doors for business in August of 1985. The company has continually grown to a point where we currently serve more than 600 individuals, and employ more than 1000 people across the state.

Skill Creations is a human services agency that operates three service divisions. The ICF Division provides specialized long-term residential care to 191 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in 15 different towns in North Carolina. The Community Operations Division provides residential and non-residential services to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in their home community. The Child Development Division, with two locations in Goldsboro, provides high quality child care and preschool for children ages birth - 5 years. One center also offers after school care through age 12.

Become a Direct Support Professional with Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency helping people with disabilities reach their personal goals. 

Currently seeking an active, playful individual for one overnight shift (6pm-10am) per week. Sunday night OR Wednesday night, your preference. 

$175 per night, including sleeping time. $20/hr during occasional daytime services. 

More hours available with other individuals, if desired. 

The person you would be supporting is friendly and playful. She enjoys movies, bowling, mermaids, and karaoke. She values engaging relationships and having fun. Her highly active lifestyle is indispensable to her; she spends hours each day hiking, walking, attending Crossfit, and working out at the gym.

A good candidate for this position has:

  • A willingness and ability to join her active lifestyle.
  • A positive, motivating energy. 
  • Strong senses of humor and adventure.
  • A fun, creative, and playful attitude with an active imagination.

The role includes:

  • Prompting and assisting with her morning and evening routines. 
  • Exercising alongside her to provide encouragement.
  • Cooking meals with her assistance.
  • Utilizing her incentive programs to provide motivation, ease difficult transitions, and reward behavior. 
  • Monitoring her health and safety.

 

Requirements:

  • High School, GED, or College Transcript from an accredited school.
  • Valid NC Driver’s license and acceptable Driving Record.
  • Criminal Record Check.
  • Completion of paid training in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
  • Basic computer skills for e-mail, electronic training modules, and data recording.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, and to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, and kneel. 
  • Prompt and regular attendance. Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays.
  • Ability to meet client-specific needs.
