Skill Creations is a human services agency that operates three service divisions. The ICF Division provides specialized long-term residential care to 191 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in 15 different towns in North Carolina. The Community Operations Division provides residential and non-residential services to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in their home community. The Child Development Division, with two locations in Goldsboro, provides high quality child care and preschool for children ages birth - 5 years. One center also offers after school care through age 12.   Description Direct Support Professional - Supported Living, North Asheville $16/hr with sleep time paid at $10/hr 3pm Thursdays-9am Fridays (18 hours) Join a well-experienced, enthusiastic team that provides support for a capable adult with autism.  If your idea of a relaxing evening is to spend time with a quiet and thoughtful companion that enjoys good food and watching a movie, this might be for you. Your client and his canine companion require a light amount of oversight rather than much personal attention. The team, including the client and his family, work in a very collegial manner and all the staff have worked with the client for years. A comfortable private bedroom and bath are provided for the sleep portion of the shift. Skill Creations, Inc. serves individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and secondary mental health issues. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to the provision of overall support and care for individuals receiving services. The DSP works in the individual’s home and/or in a community setting, providing one-to-one or group care according to the specific needs of the individuals and their plan(s) of care. The DSP may assist with personal care, behavioral support, medication administration, job coaching and assistance and/or independent living skills. Requirements: High School diploma or GED from an accredited school Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule is expected. Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays. Valid Driver’s license and acceptable Driving Record Criminal Record Check Successful completion of course work will be required in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management. Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, electronic training modules and recording data. Persons must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and the work occasionally requires balancing, bending, stooping and kneeling. The position requires the employee to be on his or her feet most of the time.
