Facility Maintenance Specialist Compensation Range: $20 – $24 per hour   Benefits Include: 401(k) matching Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Paid Time Off (PTO) Tuition Reimbursement Free Life Insurance* And much, much more!   Position Summary The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for helping maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe, efficient, and high-quality manner. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a clean, functional, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.   Primary Responsibilities Facility & Equipment Maintenance Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and general building upkeep. Maintain the facility in good repair to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Replace light bulbs, repair fixtures, and complete work orders as assigned. Service heating and cooling units per manufacturer guidelines and facility procedures. Report equipment malfunctions, hazards, or breakdowns immediately.   Grounds Maintenance Assist with upkeep of grounds, parking areas, and driveways including mowing, trimming, sweeping, and other assigned tasks. Clean windows, screens, and exterior areas as needed. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety procedures, precautions, and established maintenance schedules. Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly store tools and supplies. Report all accidents or incidents, regardless of severity. Support evacuation procedures and ensure facility areas remain hazard-free.   Teamwork & Coordination Coordinate maintenance tasks with nursing services when working in resident areas. Attend meetings, in-service trainings, and on-the-job education sessions. Assist others with lifting or moving heavy equipment and supplies.   Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in maintenance, plant operations, or facility repair preferred. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to follow instructions, accept constructive feedback, and work independently. Strong customer service and communication skills with staff, residents, and outside agencies.     Working Conditions Work primarily indoors in well-lighted, ventilated areas. Frequent interruptions and interactions with residents, families, staff, and agencies. Possible exposure to bodily fluids, waste, or infectious materials. May work weekends, evenings, holidays, or beyond normal hours as needed.   Physical Requirements Regular standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and lifting. Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment or supplies over 50 lbs. Must be able to move throughout the facility for the full workday. Ability to cope with physical and emotional stress demands.
