Fits and assembles parts into complete mold assembly. Verifies dimensions and alignment of mold assembly. Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, molds and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. Develops specifications from general description and interprets sketches of part or product to be fabricated. Confers with production personnel, supervisor, other toolmakers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining. Grinds, files, and sands parts to fit parts for assembly and to polish smooth and finish cavity Reads basic blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, or specifications to determine assembly, preventative maintenance requirements, dimensions and the tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs. Calculates and set controls for routine machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
