Share Email Opening Apply Now Title FT Faculty - Mathematics Instructor  Category Full Time Faculty   Description Position Title: Mathematics Instructor Reports To: Vice President for Instruction Position Status: Exempt, Full-Time, Contractual Schedule (continuing contract track – entry level) Classification/Points: Salary Schedule Placement Bargaining Unit/Division: Michigan Education Association, Alpena Community College Faculty Council Position Description: Faculty position with teaching responsibilities for a full range of Mathematics to arithmetic through calculus and differential equations courses. Instructor will also participate in planning implementation, and evaluation of all courses taught within the area and contribute to ongoing improvement of program curriculums. Position Responsibilities: Teach lecture and laboratory portions of courses in Mathematics, Technical Mathematics and Calculus. Teaching load determined by the Faculty Council Master Agreement. Prepare and distribute course syllabi to students. Evaluate student progress through examinations, quizzes and observations. Be available for individual student academic advising and/or consultation as required by the Faculty Master Agreement. Develop new courses and updated courses within the Math Department including catalog descriptions and course outlines as directed. Budget for and order supplies and equipment necessary for instruction. Participate in college committee work and program advisory committee activities. Participate in curriculum development, revisions and evaluation activities. Participate in committee assignments and departmental activities, such as ACC Open House and other outreach projects. Maintain a high level of academic competency through staff development activities. Maintain weekly office hours on campus as required by the Master Agreement for assisting students. Presence on the job is an employee’s fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required. Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Instruction according to the terms of the Faculty Master Agreement. Minimum of two years of teaching experience and/or five years of post-graduate work experience in Mathematics preferred. Proficiency with recent technologies including Microsoft Office, Instructional Software, and Online Instruction preferred. Experience in curriculum development preferred. Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with others in a kind and courteous manner.
