Program Supervisor I (Grants, Research, Evaluation & Planning) INTERNAL ONLY

General Definition of Work

Performs difficult professional and administrative work coordinating and supervising staa activities, supervising the work of staff within a program, ensuring the quality of program services, coordinating services with other divisions and community partners, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Grants, Research, Evaluation & Planning.

Essential Functions

Coordinates and oversees staff activities; sets program priorities; monitors and evaluates service delivery in
accordance with established guidelines and principles; develops and enforces program policies and procedures.


Assists in the recruitment and selection of program personnel; assigns, directs, trains and inspects the work of staff;
disciplines, coaches, counsels and evaluates staff performance; recommends suspensions and termination; develops
staff schedules and approves leave.


Coordinates meetings to discuss client/program/staff concerns or changes; consults with teams and committees in
the planning and development of treatment and discharge plans.


Oversees and monitors the program budget; manages and maintains program supplies; processes purchasing and
billing documentation.


Monitors and audits practices for compliance with regulatory, reimbursement and agency standards; reviews
documentation for accuracy.


Serves on a variety of committees as directed; attends and participates in a variety of meetings.
Attends professional conferences and trainings as required.

 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of community-based behavioral health principles and psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment techniques; thorough knowledge of the theories and techniques of counseling, psychotherapy and crisis intervention; thorough knowledge of community resources and human services network; good knowledge of the principles and practices of clinical supervision; general knowledge of managed care systems; skill in maintaining medical records requirements and professional documentation; ability to supervise the work of others; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to prepare and present reports and program recommendations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, subordinates, associates, law enforcement, medical personnel, community partners and general public.

Education and Experience

Master’s degree with coursework in social work, psychology, counseling, or health related field and considerable experience providing community-based mental health services including considerable supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Experience with grants management required.

Experience with data collection using various tools and formate required.

Valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Starting Salary Range $64,342.85
