Title: Research Assistant

Program: Bloorview Research Institute

Reporting to: Dr. Gillian King

Work Status: Temporary, Part-time (37.5 hrs bi-weekly)

Start Date: January 5, 2026

End Date: June 30, 2028

We are seeking a Research Assistant to work within the Resiliency project of the Gillian King Lab. The Resiliency project has a multi-disciplinary team investigating the topic of resiliency (i.e. how youth and young people with disabilities handle things in life). 

The Research Assistant, reporting to the Principal Investigator (Dr. Gillian King), will be primarily responsible for recruitment, scheduling, and data collection as part of the Resiliency research study. This study is a collaboration between Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, March of Dimes Canada (GTA), Thames Valley Children's Centre (London, Ontario) and the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. The ideal candidate will have a long-term commitment to developing their skills as a research assistant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit participants through approved means
  • Set surveys to be sent online within REDCap for participants following established research protocols
  • Manage logistics for and conduct one-on-one interviews
  • Participate in project team meetings and support team activities, assisting with research-related administrative tasks as required
  • Assist in preparing manuscripts
  • Assist with knowledge translation and dissemination activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills, & Abilities

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a health-related field. Preference given to completion of a Master's degree.
  • At least 2 years of research experience in a similar role
  • Experience with youth and young people (ages 12 to 29) with disabilities, their parents/caregivers, and service providers (clinicians/therapists in pediatric rehabilitation)
  • Experience conducting one-on-one interviews with young people and service providers
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and management 
  • Experience and knowledge of MS Office products and virtual meeting tools (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Zoom) 
  • Skills including Communication (Interpersonal, Written and Oral), Organization, Time Management and Coordination
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience or knowledge of REDCap or other databases (Asset)
