Description

Pennswood Village seeks a talented Full time Cook to join our highly skilled culinary team! We seek a candidate who is creative, passionate about culinary arts, has enthusiasm for learning, able to work in a team environment and have a customer service mindset.

JOB SUMMARY

In collaboration with our Executive Chef and Culinary team the daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in a team-oriented, high-volume, fast-paced, resident-centric environment
  • Prepare meals in accordance with the quality standards specified in recipes or as otherwise designated.
  • Able to work efficiently to turn out meals rapidly.
  • Preparing high quality food items in batches or to order for our guests and residents
  • Work efficiently on the food service production line to assure that meals are prepared on time
  • Controls food usage to minimize waste
  • Ensures proper food safety and sanitation standards to ensure resident and guest safety
  • Flexible to work in all areas of kitchen and grill station.
  • Utilizes a ‘clean as you go' practices during shift to maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area.
  • Portion meals using appropriate measuring tools.
 
Position Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience working on hot line
  • Experience in fine dining atmosphere a plus
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Commitment to excellence in food quality
  • Service oriented mindset
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to be part of a collaborative team
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Serv Safe certification a plus. Three to five years’ experience in a high volume kitchen or food production environment preferred
  • Background Check, Drug Screen, PPD required for employment

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a keen sense of taste and smell. Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting products and supplies weighing 25 to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.

WORK CONDITIONS/HOURS

Works with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment typical of a restaurant kitchen, including, but not limited to: flattop grill, oven, Panini press, meat slicer, mixer, food processor, dicer, and steam wells.
