Celebrity Auctions & Events Coordinator 


PETA is looking for an outgoing, experienced fundraising expert to solicit and organize fundraising opportunities with celebrities and other public figures through online auctions and special events. Experience with platforms such as Charitybuzz or Crowdrise is valued highly, as is a friendly and persistent personality. Position Objective:

To cultivate fundraising opportunities with celebrities and notable people from the world of film, television, theater, the arts, sports, literature, music, and politics as well as from the local community


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Develop fundraising opportunities to benefit PETA's work

• Identify and research appropriate "cases for giving" for targeted celebrities

• Cultivate relationships with targeted and prospective celebrity donors

• Draft and send requests to celebrities soliciting their support

• Review industry trades and other celebrity-focused publications and websites

• Compose and edit template letters and other correspondence

• Document pertinent information for the purpose of enhancing and developing PETA donor and celebrity profiles

• Coordinate associated celebrity photo and video shoots

• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor


Position Requirements

• Degree in a related field or equivalent experience

• Minimum of two years of fundraising experience

• Experience working with online celebrity fundraising sites, including Crowdrise.com and eBay.com

• Demonstrated working knowledge of celebrities in all areas, including film, TV, theater, art, sports, literature, music, politics, and local interest

• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns

• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

• Exceptional persuasive and explanatory written and verbal communication skills

• Proven ability to maintain professional working relationships with members and supporters

• Proven excellent project-management, strategic-thinking, and analytical skills

• Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and maintain strict confidentiality at all times

• Demonstrated effective online research skills

• Proven excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail

• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and follow through

• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

• Proven ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner

• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle

• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record

• Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
