About the Organization Our company was incorporated in 1984 within the State of North Carolina, and opened its doors for business in August of 1985. The company has continually grown to a point where we currently serve more than 600 individuals, and employ more than 1000 people across the state.

Skill Creations is a human services agency that operates three service divisions. The ICF Division provides specialized long-term residential care to 191 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in 15 different towns in North Carolina. The Community Operations Division provides residential and non-residential services to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in their home community. The Child Development Division, with two locations in Goldsboro, provides high quality child care and preschool for children ages birth - 5 years. One center also offers after school care through age 12.

Description

The Part-Time/PRN Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing and clinical education services on an as-needed basis, supporting the medical and training needs of Skill Creations Inc. (SCI). This position involves flexible scheduling, with occasional travel to and from assigned training or client care sites. The nurse will provide direct and consultative nursing services to clients and staff, including oversight, teaching, and supervision in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing standards and SCI policy. This role requires strong professional judgment, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality care and compliance with agency, state, and accrediting body requirements.

 

This position is paid at $40 per hour, with a maximum of 120 hours per contract year. Hours are provided on an as-needed basis and may vary according to agency requirements. No hours beyond those authorized may be worked without prior administrative approval. The employee acknowledges that this is a contract position without benefits.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • To meet all of the needs of the clients assigned for the work area/location.
  • To attend all mtgs as requested for client care or clinical teaching.
  • To provide a maximum hours as noted in addendum.
  • To provide all services prescribed by the Team to include direct services to the client, and/or consultation with appropriate staff on how to meet the discipline-related needs of the client.
  • To provide professional nursing services that may include the following:
    • Direct nursing care for clients or staff as assigned
    • Administrative nursing oversight for clients or staff as assigned
    • Provide training and supervision to all unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) in the performance of any delegated nursing activities including medication administration as assigned
    • Communicate and nursing needs to appropriate QP/supervisor
    • Teach, supervise and counsel on good infection control practices per policy as necessary
    • Be responsible for nursing on call duties as assigned
    • Complete QM Nursing Chart Reviews as assigned
  • To follow all federal, state and local regulations.
  • To provide all discipline related consultation services within the time frames specified by the Director.
  • To be responsible for the professional ethics of the discipline, and not to hold SCI liable for errors caused by Employee negligence.
  • To be wholly responsible for any professional liability insurance coverage desired by Employee.
  • To provide SCI with a copy of any and all appropriate licensure and/or professional associations.
  • To abide by all current policies found in the SCI Policy Manual. These policies are available on the SCI intranet. Professional employee is responsible for getting their email address linked to the SCI intranet via request to the SCI IT Department to have access to the electronic Policy Manuals.
  • To adhere to all standards that apply to the by our accrediting body, CARF. SCI shall be responsible for making Consultant aware of said standards.

Requirements

  • Current and unencumbered RN licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Working personal phone and reliable communication access
  • Proficiency in computer use for email, Google Calendar, online training modules, and electronic medical record documentation
  • Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally as needed
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles (minimum 3 years driving experience with an insurable driving record)
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with families, regulatory agencies, facility administrators, and staff
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required by client medical needs
