Description

Position Summary:

Providing quality service and accurate results supports our primary mission as a trusted adviser to our clients. As a Care Coordinator you will be working in a fast pace, growing, and challenging work environment. The Care Coordinator role is responsible for answering inbound calls and engaging clients to arrange for laboratory testing services. You will also coordinate requested laboratory testing, build client relationships, and apply timely referral management strategies. Your role will include contacting clients to coordinate testing and maintaining proactive communication with our clients. You will reinforce Cordant's mission of being a Specialty Laboratory market leader and trustworthy partner to payers.

Essential Functions:

  • Verify and validate the accuracy of all referral information as well as attempt to obtain any missing information needed to effectively process referral
  • Review and manage scheduled referrals and initiate escalation when appropriate
  • Initiate contact with patients, clients, or other entities to provide education on the scheduling process, notify of scheduled collection or communicate scheduling barriers
  • Utilize effective communication and negotiation skills to educate patients or other entities to encourage testing services to meet customer needs
  • Proactively identify and resolve challenges that may impact the successful delivery of testing

services

  • Follow escalation process when service agreements and/or customer satisfaction is at risk
  • Document all actions thoroughly in the referral management system
  • Consistently and effectively update patients, case managers or other involved parties regarding status of referrals
  • Responds to email/fax/phone calls while meeting and/or exceeding service level goals
  • Exercise initiative in all duties to promote a strong, collaborative team

Additional Duties:

  • Research topics of interest to support department goals

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma, required
    • AA, AS or college degree, preferred
  • 5 + years' work experience in a customer service-related field including order fulfillment or scheduling, which includes a minimum of 3 + years in healthcare, required
  • Pharmacy or toxicology experience such as laboratory technician/assistant, pharmacy technician or PBM work experience, preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in computer window-based program
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Must be a good communicator with a friendly positive demeanor
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume service center
  • Ability to multi-task and works well under pressure
  • Bilingual in Spanish, a plus
  • Excellent Attendance and Performance History

Training Plan:

  • New Hire Onboarding

Physical Requirements: Physical:

  • Light to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.)
  • Sitting & standing for long periods of time
  • Repetitive motions and/or prolonged computer use
  • Working at a fast pace, subject to many interruptions
