Description

Acutis Diagnostics is a growing clinical laboratory located in Hicksville, NY. Summary of Role:

The Laboratory Assistant supports the Toxicology staff with laboratory clerical duties, the cleanliness, and organization of the laboratory. This role reports directly to the Toxicology Supervisor.

 

Responsibilities:

Labeling and Documentation

  • Label calibration, quality control tubes, and Tecan plates to ensure correct identification and traceability
  • Scan processed samples into sample finder sheet to maintain an accurate digital record

Sample Management

  • Accession samples into the laboratory system
  • Check sample pull logs and pull samples as needed
  • Provide sample preparation support to Toxicology Technologists as directed
  • Dispose of processed samples in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures

Reagent and Equipment Monitoring

  • Check all reagents on bench top and instruments to ensure valid expiration dates
  • Record temperatures for fridges and freezers to ensure proper sample preservation

LC-MS/MS Instrument Support

  • Perform routine instrument maintenance on LC-MS/MS instruments
  • Troubleshoot method-related issues such as low counts, irregular pressure traces, retention times, or reagent performance
  • Fill, prepare, and replace solvents needed for LC-MS/MS operation
  • Maintain inventory of critical solvents required for LC-MS/MS instrumentation
  • Coordinate with vendors for repair and service of LC-MS/MS instruments

Safety and Cleanliness

  • Dispose of biologically hazardous materials in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures
  • Clean LCMS bench tops and store laboratory supplies properly
  • Disinfect all surfaces in your workspace at the end of shift

Confidentiality and Safety Protocols

  • Maintain patient and client confidentiality
  • Follow safety, environmental, and infection control protocols

Inventory Management

  • Receive and organize new shipments
  • Take weekly and monthly inventory of high-use items and restock supplies
  • Place orders in Quartzy

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned

 

Pay Range:

  • $17.00 - $19.00/Hour
 
Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma

 

Skills:

  • Effective Oral Communication
  • Information Interpretation: Quickly reads, interprets, and retains information
  • Detail-Oriented Editing: Ensures work is free from errors
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient with technology
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: Skilled in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Quick Learner: Adapts to new skills and knowledge easily

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing or sitting for an extended period of time
  • Able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Audible recognition of alarms
