Data Analyst, Senior - Stony Brook CPMP Finance

Schedule: Full time

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5 PM (This is not a remote position)

Salaries vary depending on experience, education and current market for the position. Human Resources determines the external and internal equitable salary for each employee.

 

SUMMARY: The Senior Data Analyst will work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems on the compilation, analysis and dissemination of reports related to finance, quality, patient access, and other healthcare economic related requests. This includes coordinating and facilitating all aspects of planning, evaluation and development, reporting, problem resolution and solution to underlying business issues and objectives. The candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership skills and assist in the development of the Data Analysts in the department.

 

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

  • Assist with all Data Reporting functions within CPMP.
  • Develop, maintain and expand reporting applications that enhance data retrieval and analysis.
  • Manage and update the business intelligence software as needed.
  • Assist Executive Management as required.
  • Serve as project liaison with business intelligence vendor.
  • Develop innovative and/or customized templates and report format which can be used as a general design for portal functionality and features.
  • Create data visualizations for widespread Organizational use.
  • Assist with supervision of the staff assigned to the data analyst functions.
  • Work and Collaborate with internal and external teams to implement client driven application requirements.
  • Process and analyze data to support organizations goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with presenting data visualization’s and reporting tools to key stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field: Business, Health Care Administration, Finance, Computing Science, Information Technology or a closely related field. In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, Associate’s Degree in relevant field plus an additional 2 years of data analysis experience.
  • 3 years of data analysis experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Use of reporting software (GE/IDX, Cerner, Experience with Business Intelligence software, SQL).
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with visualization/analysis software (MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Experience in healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Business Analytics, Business Administration or related field
  • Previous Lead/Senior Role in an organizational setting.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
