Media and Advertising Coordinator  


Description

Position Objectives:

• To generate media coverage of PETA's campaigns with a focus on severe weather and natural disasters nationwide

• To coordinate advertising placements and purchases

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Monitor severe weather and natural disasters nationwide (e.g., fires, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes) and prepare and service news releases regarding the safeguarding of companion animals during such events

• Research and develop advertising campaign strategies and advertising methods

• Make advertising purchase recommendations and obtain placement approval

• Manage all records of paid advertising requests and placements

• Determine the effectiveness of ad campaigns and make recommendations for improvement

• Manage ad campaigns in order to ensure maximum placement possibilities

• Develop relationships with sales representatives and public service announcement directors and negotiate free or reduced-cost placement rates that are appropriate for particular markets and demographics based on market research

• Prepare and service news releases for PETA campaigns

• Independently pitch PETA campaigns and events to the media

• Develop target lists for issue and campaign coverage

• Develop new pitch ideas and ways to revamp news releases and pitches in order to increase media coverage of PETA campaigns

 

Position Requirements

• Degree in a related field or equivalent experience

• Demonstrated extensive knowledge of the media industry

• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns

• Proven ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner

• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

• Proven ability to take initiative and follow through

• Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and work independently

• Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Proven excellent organizational skills

• Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle

• Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues

• Commitment to the objectives of the organization
