The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting with and performing general maintenance functions on the buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicles as required. This position will work closely with the Director of Maintenance in setting maintenance priorities, performing routine maintenance inspections, assuring compliance with various federal and state regulations including documentation requirements, and overall providing a clean and safe work and living environment for both staff and the individuals we serve. This position will assist with the instillation, operation and general upkeep of various systems required for the operations of the facility as well as assist in the tracking, upkeep and maintenance of inventory including maintenance department equipment and supplies as well as facility equipment and supplies. This position will work closely with staff, individuals and contractors/vendors/suppliers to ensure that maintenance, equipment and repair needs are being met.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
Position requires a High School diploma or GED. Advanced certification in building trades and
knowledge of building and safety codes preferred. Prior experience working in a Health Care
environment or with disabled adults preferred. Demonstrated skill sets in the areas of
mechanical/building ability and experience required. This may include drafting, mathematics,
electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general construction experience. A valid Ohio Driver’s License
and ability to travel to different locations is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 -Ability to understand and promote the philosophy, function, mission and purpose of the
Ministry.
-Ability to operate in a team environment and communicate effectively with other
professionals, paraprofessionals, Ministry personnel and individuals served and their
families/guardians in a professional, confidential and Christian manner.
-Basic knowledge of building, facilities and maintenance operations.
-Ability to understand and promote a person-centered philosophy
-Knowledge and skills in basic math and budgeting.
-General knowledge in Universal Precautions, Infection Control, Environmental Safety, and
emergency procedures in order to direct personnel appropriately.
-Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in all EHV, Inc. facilities.
-Ability to follow policies and procedures, complete administrative tasks correctly and on
time, and use time effectively.
Ability to use independent judgment and make decisions.
-Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
-Ability to distinguish colors or taste/smell for evaluation.
-Must demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and monitor own work to ensure quality.
-Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level
-Ability to professionally approach others in a tactful manner and treat others with respect
regardless of their position.
-Ability to accept responsibility for own actions.
-Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, cope with stress and frustration, manage
conflict, and crisis and work under pressure and deadlines.
-To work with others in caring for the individuals we serve and willingness to participate in
continuing education opportunities and maintain required credentials and core competencies.

-Reliable and dependable.
-Is consistently at work and on time.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality of the individuals when communicating with others
-Patience in dealing with the individuals we serve, their families and visitors
