Test Engineer 

Description

Project Engineer supporting airborne platform cybersecurity test and evaluation.  Assess potential airborne platform and system cyber vulnerabilities.  Plan, coordinate, and execute tests and Cyber Table Top assessments.  Analyze and report on results.  Share and socialize cyber assessment and test results with platform and system developers, integrators, and other test agencies.

 

 
Position Requirements

Required Experience & Skills: 

  • Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience:
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of Cyber resilience and T&E processes.
    • Knowledge and understanding of computer networking fundamentals including network security architecture concepts.  Basic knowledge of principles of Computer Network Attack (CNA), Computer Network Exploitation (CNE), Computer Network Defense (CND), and Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO).
    • Knowledge and understanding of Navy and DoD policies, procedures, capabilities, tools, and resources for use in Cyber.
    • Knowledge and understanding of cyber resiliency, packet-level analysis, and system and application security threats and vulnerabilities (e.g., buffer overflow, mobile code, cross-site scripting, Procedural Language/Structured Query Language [PL/SQL] and injections, race conditions, covert channel, replay, return-oriented attacks, malicious code).
    • Understanding of commercial data links and ways to attack (e.g., Bluetooth, Radio Frequency Identification [RFID], Infrared Networking [IR], Wireless Fidelity [Wi-Fi], paging, cellular, satellite dishes).
    • Knowledge and understanding of new and emerging information technology (IT) and threats.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Real Time Operating Systems (e.g.: VXworks) that run on embedded aircraft systems.
    • Knowledge and understanding of cyber defense mitigation strategies.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Cybersecurity Risk Assessment (CSRA) process.
    • Knowledge and understanding of conducting a Cyber Table Top (CTT).  Knowledge and understanding of leading Opposing Force (OPFOR) team in a CTT exercise.
    • Knowledge of approved penetration testing tools as demonstrated by experience in hand on test/evaluation.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Prevent, Mitigate, & Recover (PMR) Cyber Survivability key attributes.
    • Knowledge of common network attack tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) including passive, active, insider, close-in, and distribution.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Must work well on a team and learn new processes quickly.  Candidate should have demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidate should have experience working in a dynamic, schedule constrained, and complex security environment.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy and Patuxent River specific development and operational test capabilities and ethical hacking methods and processes with respect to Cyber Test and Evaluation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applying cyber test principles to mission based testing.
 
Salary Range 80K-150K and be will commensurate with experience  
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Level of Clearance Required Current active Top Secret clearance is desired. Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance is required.  
Amount of Travel Minimal
