POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for performing nuclear medicine testing to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of certain cardiac diseases.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Follows departmental protocols to determine proper execution of diagnostic testing.
  • Educates patients on ordered diagnostic testing and will properly place IV's as needed.
  • Orders, receives, disposes, and injects radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Actively demonstrates a working knowledge of nuclear medicine to provide the best patient care.
  • Monitors all departmental testing.
  • Ensures proper patient placement to achieve quality images.
  • Operates all imaging and non-imaging equipment (gamma camera, dose calibrator, Geiger survey, Scintillation probe).
  • Enters all necessary information into EMR per departmental protocol.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and ensures charges are correct.
  • Follows ICANL standards of practice.
  • Travels to all offices as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned per the need of the organization and within scope of licensure.
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, radiation physics and radiographic equipment.
  • Knowledge of Radiation Safety.
  • Skill in performing nuclear testing.
  • Skill in utilizing time management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience performing nuclear scans in a hospital or medical office environment.
  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
  • Current registration (ARRT, NMTCB).
  • Current BLS certification.
