POSITION SUMMARY:
Substitute Teachers could be contacted to teach children from preschool through 12th grade, depending on skills and experience. Substitute Teachers supervise students and ensure they have a fulfilling learning experience. Duties include managing classroom behavior, quickly interpreting lesson plans, and creating reports to inform the students' permanent teacher of their success. Ideal candidates will have substitute-teaching experience and an ability to lead classrooms effectively. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about Christian education and are called to work with youth, desiring them to grow in their understanding of subject matter with a biblical perspective.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:
• Education & Certification
o Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college is required; Master's Degree preferred.
o State teaching certification and/or substitute teaching certification preferred.
• Experience:
o Training in Education and best practices in teaching is preferred.
o Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Skills:
o Ability to teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods.
o Ability to develop authentic relationships with young adults.
o Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Excellent interpersonal and problem resolution skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
o Excellent organizational skills for multi-tasking and prioritizing responsibilities.
o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Physical Requirements:
o Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
o Must be able to traverse school grounds and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria.
• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
• Design lessons when needed that teach the curriculum.
• Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan(s).
• Display a deep knowledge of English Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, History or other assigned subject and the application to our lives.
• Connect Biblical Truth to students.
• Maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance, and behavior.
• Maintain the time schedule given for the teacher's teaching and duty responsibilities.
• Become familiar with and adhere to school emergency protocols, such as fire drill and lockdown.
