Vice President of Operational Systems - Swan Island/Portland, OR

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership for the development, implementation and management of the company’s strategic alignment initiatives including fleet management, routing, GPS, telematics, and other distribution systems.
  2. Provide leadership in identifying and evaluating system improvements in our supply chain including WMS, RAS and Purchasing systems.
  3. Organize the development of new programs, policies and procedures to achieve the company’s strategic objectives.
  4. Develop and implement a system for tracking and reporting on the progress of the strategic initiatives.
  5. Prepare and submit an annual capital expense budget, manage effectively within this budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.
  6. Review and determine the best vendors for programs, services and cost related to operational optimization and efficiency.
  7. Identify and recommend vehicle specifications for all classes of vehicles used by the company.
  8. Organizes and directs ordering process for new and/or used vehicles with approved vendors in accordance with established specifications and policy.
  9. Works with internal and external resources in obtaining timely licensing and registrations.
  10. Works with internal and external resources to achieve proper compliance with all government and/or tax regulating bodies.
  11. Maintains database of vehicles and corresponding title files for vehicles not subject to lien.
  12. Conducts life cycle analysis of each vehicle class.
  13. Makes recommendations on leasing programs and terms, as well as negotiates and obtains appropriate service contracts. May be involved in contract maintenance for proper pricing of parts and services.
  14. Stays up to date on the fleet industry and makes recommendations, partnering with IT, on new technology or programs to increase distribution efficiency.
  15. Participates in acquisitions as needed to evaluate acquired equipment and ensure compliance through proper tagging and licensing.
  16. Assists in identifying best fuel programs and manages fuel card programs in accordance with established procedures and goals.
  17. Serves as liaison between field locations, vendors, and service providers.
  18. Manages maintenance and licensing on any corporate vehicles as needed.
  19. Complete all other tasks or projects as assigned.

Position Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

Education/Training:  Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or Industrial Engineering preferred; High School diploma or GED required


Experience:  Minimum of ten (10) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge/Skill:  Resilient ability to provide collaborative leadership; Excellent analytical skills with ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions;  Ability to interpret technical information relative to performing the duties of the job;  Directly or indirectly impact profit by approving registration renewals, service contracts, non-warranty repairs, leasing programs; Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Effective organizational and time management skills; Ability to develop strong relationships and build consensus with Executive and Senior Management, location managers, finance and accounting, equipment, maintenance and service vendors, licensing agencies, lending and leasing providers

Physical Requirements:

1.    Lift/Carry & Push/Pull up to 25 lbs.

2.    Bend/Stoop/Crouch/Squat

3.    Use arms/wrists/hands/grasp throughout entire shift

4.    Work indoors in a sedentary office setting
