Description

ROLE

The IT Systems Administrator (SA) provides a broad range of computer services and support to Carlington staff, including assisting users in troubleshooting computer applications; developing and maintaining software applications; assisting in maintaining and upgrading hardware and software to reflect advances in technology and changing organizational needs. The SA will also be responsible for maintaining and monitoring on-premises and cloud-based systems, including servers, firewalls, backups, VPN, and security patching.

 
Position Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Education
    • Post-secondary education in computer programming, computer science or a related field,
    • Proficiency in the use of computers and programming languages, such as PowerShell, SQL, Microsoft 365 Automation, Scripting for VPN, and Network Tools,
    • Certificate in databases, or equivalent work and/or experience,
    • Network certification an asset.

 

  1. Professional experience
    • 2 – 3 years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare setting,
    • 2 – 3 years of experience providing technical support to users with various skill levels in a Windows environment,
    • Experience as a computer trainer, including assessing training needs and developing plans to address users at a range of skill levels (from beginner to advanced),
    • Experience in data quality management.

 

  1. Key Competencies
    • Familiarity with Ocean MD/PS Suite an asset,
    • Experience providing documentation for information systems,
    • Experience working effectively as a team player in a multi-disciplinary environment,
    • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and time management skills,
    • Experience working in a non-profit organization is an asset,
    • Strong communication skills in English required (verbal and written), bilingualism an asset,
    • Based in Ottawa (onsite 3 days per week),
    • This role may require occasional evening/weekend presence for system updates or emergencies.

    • Fluency in French is an asset.

Salary Range $39.57 - $46.56 per hour
