Accounts Receivable Coordinator, Extended Deadline: May 30, 2013

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:  This position is responsible for daily deposits, oversight of accounts receivable and reporting functions needed for accounts receivable, OCWM, donations, miscellaneous income.  Also responsible for invoicing of Common Services fees, advertising and other items as requested.


  • Ensure that accounts receivable processes are conducted in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the policies of the organization.
  • Supervise the Accounts Receivable and General Ledger Processor.
  • Train and cross-train personnel on accounts receivable processes as needed.
  • Post day-end United Church of Christ Resources (UCCR) receipts and reconcile to accounts receivable. Reconcile balances between the subsidiary accounts receivable ledgers and the general ledger.
  • Manage and balance UCCR customer accounts. Investigate issues and initiate refunds as necessary.
  • Process general cash and OCWM daily bank deposits.
  • Ensure that all receipts are properly credited and reported.  This includes, but is not limited to accounts receivable for the ministries distributing resources through UCCR, OCWM, donations, receipts for fees and services rendered by Common Services and miscellaneous income.
  • Review and receipt all batches entered into Raiser’s Edge.
  • Provide monthly and year end reporting on OCWM (Basic Support and Special Mission Offerings).
  • Reconcile all donations received through the Conferences and update the related annual confirmation letters for audit purposes.
  • Assist with monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Common Services accounting and reporting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable invoice review and approval (up to $5,000) and monthly financial reports.
  • Conference accounting and reporting functions as needed.
  • Ensure that fees and service costs for the operation of Common Services are properly distributed and invoiced in a timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly account analysis for all accounts receivable and related accounts.
  • Reconcile miscellaneous accounts receivable accounts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.     

  • A college degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience, or a combination of academic study and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting and/or similar positions (4-6 years with increasing responsibility)
  • Computer systems skills, especially MS Office Suite, Fundware, Financial Edger and Raiser’s Edge helpful.
  • Comfort and ability to clearly explain and interpret financial data and reports to non-financial staff and volunteers.
  • Understanding of the polity and structures of the United Church of Christ a plus.
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and religious settings with commitment to pluralism in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated written and oral English language skills.
