Broadcast Technician – Cleveland Studio
Mills James is a creative media production company crafted to connect ideas, people and audiences. We are currently seeking a full-time Broadcast Technician to join our dynamic Cleveland production team.
What You'll Bring
• A bachelor's degree in broadcasting, communications, or a related field; OR three or more years of relevant experience in the broadcast industry, with a focus on live production and studio operations.
• A solid understanding of broadcast production equipment and workflows, including video switching, camera operation, and audio mixing in live and studio environments.
• Experience directing, technical directing, camera operation, and floor directing in both control room and live studio settings.
• Ability to mix audio using digital audio boards and troubleshoot common sound issues.
• Strong attention to detail, good judgment, and the ability to stay calm under pressure during live productions.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from the studio and off-site production locations, as needed.
• Flexibility to work variable hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on production needs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to maintaining a professional, team-oriented environment.
Additional Qualities That Set You Apart
• Knowledge of or experience with broadcast automation systems and video routing/signal flow.
• Familiarity with nonlinear editing systems (e.g., Adobe Premiere) or graphic systems (e.g., Ross XPression) is a plus.
• A demonstrated commitment to safety and accessibility in the workplace.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires the ability to:
• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Stand or sit for extended periods during live productions.
• Navigate tight spaces and climb ladders or platforms when setting up or maintaining production equipment.
• Tolerate exposure to studio lighting and audiovisual equipment during live and recorded sessions.
