Position Revenue Cycle Accountant  
Description

The revenue cycle accountant II position is responsible for the administration of the company's revenue cycle across all business units, including invoicing, recording receipts, making collections, and ensuring revenue is recorded in the correct period. Due to the diversity and complexity of Kin On's business units, this is a moderately complex role that facilitates timely long-term and skilled care insurance billings, collections, and write-offs with outside experts; insurance validation and census reporting; invoicing, collections, and recording of resident & home care non-covered charges (private pay) and premiums (participation fees); recording of donations; assisting in grant budgeting and invoicing; and tracking and recording investment realized and unrealized gains and losses. This position is responsible for reconciling related balance sheet accounts and providing P&L revenue variance analysis. Additionally, this role will provide detailed review of assigned payroll units, back up payroll processing and Accounts Payable functions, and will be a mentor and resource to more junior staff.

This position is full-time non-exempt with flexible schedule. It depends on experience if exempt. The Revenue Cycle Accountant works 8-hour target workday with core team hours between 10:00am - 4:00pm.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Record cash receipts to GL on a timely basis
  • Promptly prepare A/R agings and invoices with pristine accuracy
  • Coordinate with external contracted experts to ensure billings, collections, and write-offs are processed promptly and recorded to the correct period. Help investigate and recover rejected claims
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls and segregation of duties are maintained in the department, especially around cash handling
  • Track restricted donations and prepare journal entries to defer donation revenue recognition when appropriate
  • Reconcile all accounts related to the revenue cycle, and other accounts as assigned
  • Assist with grant budgeting and own the invoicing process for all grants
  • Work directly with A/P and Payroll team members to ensure accurate grant coding on first effort. Assist with processing grant A/P and credit card transactions in MIP, as needed
  • Provide P&L revenue variance analysis
  • Stay up-to-date on payroll procedures and provide backup as needed for timekeeping and payroll processing.
  • Be primary detailed reviewer for assigned payroll units, ensuring that few, if any, errors are found at 2nd review level
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including around invoice cost and accuracy
  • Help department reduce the close timeline through efficient work and mentorship
  • Assist with preparation of financial and government reporting and help support audits

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college and a minimum of two years of directly relevant accounting work; a Bachelor's Business degree may be accepted with three years of directly relevant accounting work
  • Working knowledge of revenue cycle, general payroll processes, and payables
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, including the ability to research, analyze and reconcile financial data
  • Capability to plan, organize, prioritize and multi-task with close attention to detail with accuracy, and competence to work independently with minimal supervision, follow directions well and follow through with assignments
  • Strong excel skills
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience with Long-Term Care revenue cycle (billing & collections) and Medicaid/Medicare billings strongly preferred
  • Experience with grant budgeting, allocations, and invoicing strongly preferred
  • Bilingual in Chinese preferred
  • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) financial systems desired
  • Experience with Paychex and/or Attendance on Demand (AOD) desired
  • Experience in health care or non-profit industries are a plus
  • Customer service focused, and able to build credibility and confidence with peers, leaders, and staff
  • Positive demeanor, encourages self and others to embrace change, champions work that is in the best interest of Kin On, willing to help out wherever and whenever needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, characterized by presence, respect for others, good listening skills, clear verbal, written and thinking skills, an open mind and the ability to think on his/her feet

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Pay: $64,000 - $84,000 per year
