Description

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, builds and maintains successful member relationships by funding and servicing loans to the member’s complete satisfaction, while simultaneously ensuring that supporting documentation and records are accurately prepared according to SFCU lending policies. Meets or exceeds all funding goals with minimum errors and processes pending loans in a timely, consistent manner.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Fund a minimum in loan volume each month as established by the annual operating budget.
  2. Actively seeks opportunities to increase loan volume. Consistently meets or exceeds goals.
  3. Provides an excellent member experience by relating well to the member, proactively selling products and services that benefit the member, thinking and exercising sound judgment, and acting responsibly in the member's and the Credit Union's best interests.
  4. Maintain a 10% minimum error rating on total loans funded each month while consistently meeting deadlines, funding goals and efficiency requirements.
  5.  Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of consumer lending products, services, and processes. Successfully and completely process consumer loan and credit card applications, consumer loan funding. Assemble loan and title packets for submission to appropriate Loan Technicians within 3 business days of funding.
  6. Accurately determine invoice and wholesale values for various types of collateral.

  1. Displays a commitment to excellent member service and strong interpersonal skills by building and maintaining positive relationships with various vendors, internal partners, and team members. 
  2. Communicates effectively in writing and verbally.
  3. Follows up with key individuals immediately (within 24 hours) to resolve problems and/or respond to inquiries.

  1. Stay up-to-date on all current, applicable industry standards.

  5. Is responsible for compliance with all required regulations and polices, especially with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) policies, procedures and regulations.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. High School diploma or equivalent required. College degree or college courses in a related field highly desired 
  2. Minimum of two (2) years consumer lending experience or equivalent desired.
  3. Minimum one (1) year or more customer service experience required. 
  4. Six (6) months or more credit union experience desired.

 

 

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications, etc.:

 

  1. Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze complex information.
  2. Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  3. Bilingual in Spanish desired.
  4. Fully knowledgeable of and able to communicate with members about credit bureau reports and credit histories, risk-based lending scores, invoice and wholesale values of collateral, lien perfections, loan and deposit rates, credit union policies and procedures, and loan decisions.
  5. Superior verbal and written communication skills
  6. A passion for people and service, as well as a dedication to building relationships with members
  7. Ability to work with members and staff tactfully and professionally, both in-person and on the phone
  8. Ability to work proactively and independently with minimal supervision
  9. Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

OTHER SKILLS

Must have personal computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must have typing skills at a minimum of 40 words per minute.
