Provide information and referral, case management services, counseling, and advocacy in accessing services in order to ensure caregivers of older adults have their needs supported. This position will primarily serve the African American community. A strong demonstration of cultural competency is required for consideration.
Education/Experience: *BSW or BA in social work from accredited institution *Social work license in Minnesota (LSW) *Minimum of two years experience in social work working with elderly, other diverse populations, those with special needs or social service programs
Other Skills/Requirements: *Ability to work independently within a team concept *Advocacy, assessment and interviewing skills *Knowledge of community resources *Ability to keep accurate records and documentation according to professional standards *Ability to organize and prioritize tasks *Ability to establish and maintain trusting relationships *Ability to handle rejection *Sensitivity to needs of individuals and families in crisis *Capacity to view all persons positively, recognize their strengths and respect their points of view *Cultural and linguistic competence *Patience and perseverance in dealing with program participants
