General Summary:

 

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, develops, plans and implements the outreach programs, and marketing strategy for events, activities and outreach to the community with the purpose of providing information on the St. Joseph County Commission on Aging (COA) services and programs. Oversees and assists with the development of life enrichment programming that occurs at both senior centers as well as special events for seniors, trips, disease prevention and volunteer programming.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  1. Develops a marketing and outreach plan that includes St. Joseph County citizens, physicians, health care entities, churches, human service agencies and businesses.
  2. Promotes enrichment center rental opportunities throughout the community.
  3. Coordinates COA presence in all communities through parades or other events. Seeks staffing and develops theme for parade events.
  4. Assures consistent and appropriate image of COA in all internal and external publication and postings.
  5. Develops a promotional plan for all COA community and organization events as required.
  6. Develops department/program specific marketing and outreach materials.
  7. Develops and publishes communication materials, brochures, and press releases.
  8. Keeps website and social media information up to date.
  9. Develops newsletter format, incorporating agency events and information. Publishes and oversees distribution.
  10. Oversees inventory and printing of all brochures and marketing materials.
  11. Takes photographs for use in publications. Maintains picture and logo library for use in publications.
  12. Develops internal and external communication messages, designing all bulletin boards and secures volunteers and staff to implement board plans and changes as needed.
  13. Monitors all brochure and publication placement both from COA and from other agencies.
  14. Assists with the development and implementation of senior surveys to identify needs and potential new program development opportunities.
  15. Researches and understands senior citizen and county issues, assisting Director in framing responses to emerging needs.
  16. Identifies target markets and develops database and contacts for target organizations.
  17. Conducts marketing strategy meetings for the purpose of developing, communicating and implementing an overall marketing and outreach plan.
  18. Recruits, screens and interviews volunteer applicants. Oversees the training of volunteers. Places volunteers and contractual employees to provide services in areas such as creative arts, recreation, education, health promotion, and special events and well as clerical support and transportation services.
  19. Solicits suggestions and ideas to promote senior participation. Serves as an advocate for seniors and seeks out opportunities such as discounted services and other items.
  20. Coordinates with other agencies to help ensure utilization of local resources in providing educational, health promotion, and other programming for seniors.
  21. Performs other duties as required.

Position Requirements

Employment Qualifications:

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications or related or equivalent work experience.

 

Experience: Three years sales/outreach and/or marketing experience preferably in health care or other human service agency.

 

 

Other Requirements:

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher preferred.

Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management systems (CRM).

Valid Michigan Driver’s License.

Able to lift and carry forms and event material

Working Conditions:

Works in office conditions but is required to travel throughout the County.
