Description

Growing credit union (banking) on Long Island is seeking a driven and results-oriented manager for the Collections Department.  This individual is responsible for managing all aspects of the collections cycle for a team. The Collections Manager maintains accountability for compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies governing our industry.  Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain acceptable delinquency levels, charge-offs and hardships of existing portfolio 
  • Monitor, review, and report performance and delinquency trends
  • Demonstrate, ensure and maintain up-to-date knowledge for compliance with all applicable federal, state, local regulations, and policies and procedures relative to collections
  • Manage third party relationships with vendors, contractors, real estate associates, and attorneys
  • Develop a highly effective team of associates and develop each associate to their highest potential through coaching and demonstrated leadership skills. Responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members
  • Plan, organize, direct and control the department's daily activities to provide the best possible service to the members while protecting the assets of the organization
 

Position Requirements

•  Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years Collections experience in a management capacity
•  Proven track record of increasing recoveries with consumer banking products/mortgages/autos and ability to quantify/track results
•  Develop, mentor, and motivate staff to reach goal targets
•  Strong attention to detail and accuracy
•  Superior communication, interpersonal, and analytical/problem solving skills
•  Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and PC platform including intermediate Excel skills
