According to the National Diabetes Statistics Report, 38.4 million people-11.6% of the U.S. population-have diabetes, and approximately 98 million adults have prediabetes. Obesity, a major contributing factor, affects about 42% of U.S. adults. These chronic conditions are on the rise, with some communities experiencing greater barriers to prevention, diagnosis, and care. As advocates for improved health access, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) is committed to expanding access to quality care. In partnership with local organizations and health systems, we implement community-centered strategies to reduce barriers, raise awareness, provide culturally responsive education, support research, and advocate for system-level change. The ADA seeks a Director of Health Access and Quality to support key projects aligned with our strategic goals to improve care access and address social drivers of health. This role is based in San Bernardino, CA, or within a 50-mile radius, and reports to the Sr. Director of Health Access and Quality. The ideal candidate will serve as a strategic partner and problem solver, with strong project management and evaluation skills, and the ability to engage effectively with community-based organizations - locally, regionally, and nationally. They will bring a systems-thinking approach and a proven ability to deliver high-quality work on time while effectively managing community partnerships. RESPONSIBILITIES Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to support ADA's health access and quality improvement initiatives. Collaborate across departments to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of programs that reduce barriers to health and wellness in limited-resource communities. Identify programmatic gaps or areas for improvement and proactively recommend solutions. Contribute innovative, technology-enabled approaches to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of projects. Represent the ADA in internal meetings and occasionally at external events or stakeholder engagements. Perform additional duties as needed to support the success of the Health Access and Quality team. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Public Health, Population Health, or a related field preferred. At least 7 years of progressive experience in community engagement, health promotion, or public health programming. Experience managing relationships and partnerships, including with senior leaders and cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to evaluate program outcomes and adjust strategies as needed. Skilled in creating detailed impact reports and donor or stakeholder updates. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Professionalism and strong interpersonal presence in a variety of settings. Willingness to travel 20%-25%.
