Lab Technician I 

Description

The Lab Technician I position is responsible for supporting all aspects of compound handling and order fulfillment in the Neats department. This includes accurately picking, returning, and weighing chemical compounds in accordance with client requests and internal procedures. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, safety, and consistency to ensure quality and compliance across daily operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately fulfill client orders by picking, verifying, and weighing chemical compounds
  • Perform tare, weight capture, and gross weigh processes using precision lab equipment
  • Manage compound vial inventory, including locating, returning, and tracking new, depleted, or misplaced items
  • Scan and verify 2D barcodes, ensuring data integrity and order accuracy
  • Confirm proper functioning of lab equipment, such as nitrogen-charged glove boxes
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures as outlined on the Daily Assessment Sheet
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace by cleaning utensils, restocking supplies, and disposing of waste properly
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in a safe, compliant, and timely manner
  • Wear appropriate PPE, including lab coat, gloves, and mask, at all times
  • Enter and review data to support downstream liquid processing and order tracking
  • Remain punctual and maintain a consistent work schedule, free from excessive absenteeism or tardiness
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

Education and/or experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior experience using analytical scales (0.00001g to 120g) is a plus
  • Familiarity with RF scanners and barcode systems preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and data verification
  • Comfortable working in warehouse/lab environments, including cold storage
  • Able to follow detailed instructions and retain procedural information
  • Knowledge of general lab/warehouse safety practices and chemical handling is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Physical requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, listen, and use hands and fingers to perform weigh duties
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to use fine motor skills and handle chemicals to weigh small quantity vials
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements to perform weigh duties
  • Frequent handling of chemicals
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including lab coat, gloves and face mask while performing job duties
