Program Description The Avanti Center offers a continuum of shelter, evaluation and residential treatment services. Avanti's primary population is girls, ages 13-18, experiencing mental health crisis. Diagnoses include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and emerging personality disorders which often present as self-injurious behavior as well as hospitalizations for suicidal ideation and attempts.

Primary Duty:
 

This position will work closely with the full-time RN to assess patients needs, develop and implement a plan of care, evaluate and adjust as needed. This position would work 10-15 hours per week as well as take on-call duty every other week. Specific responsibilities:

  • Monitor the medical needs of residents, oversee the administering of medications, educate families regarding medication and other health issues and represent the physical needs of patients to the treatment team.
  • Schedule residents with the consulting psychiatrist/psychiatric professionals.
  • Develop and implement agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide staff training per licensure requirements and as needed.
  • Monitor side effects and effectiveness of medications according to licensure.
  • Schedule and follow-up on all medical/dental appointments.

Position Requirements

Education/Experience: 
*Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Minnesota
*Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.
*Experience in working with identified program participants

Other Skills/Requirements:
*Demonstrated competency working with programs program participants/residents
*Confidentiality
*A valid drivers license and a good driving record
*Organizational and time management skills
*Computer basics
*CPR certified

Additional Skills/Requirements
*2 years experience in mental health with children/adolescents
*Demonstrated competency working with emotionally disturbed adolescents
*Knowledge/experience with psychoactive medications
