Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. We provide academically rigorous, vibrant learning grounded in social justice and student centered pedagogy. Our entire community is committed to cultivating each student's unique talents and passions, providing myriad opportunities for students to discern and realize their individual intellectual, artistic, athletic, social, and spiritual potential. SHC is a San Francisco Archdiocesan High School that is cosponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, District of San Francisco New Orleans and the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

POSITION TITLE: SHC Instructional Coach
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Learning Innovation
FLSA STATUS: 40% FTE, Part-Time, Exempt or Non-Exempt. May be full-time if paired with other available role(s)
EFFECTIVE DATE: Aug 1, 2025
COMPENSATION: $27,850.00-$43,750.40

Position Summary

Instructional Coaches work with SHC faculty members to facilitate student engagement in effective learning and transformative Lasallian Vincentian education. Instructional Coaches partner with non-probationary faculty (primarily) to design, implement, and reflect strategies for more effective learning and increased student achievement. Instructional Coaches and faculty members co-create and work on individualized, measurable goals through cycles of reflection and feedback. Coaches serve for two years terms, with the option of renewing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Model for students the characteristics of a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic educator;

  • Promote SHC’s mission, philosophy and Integral Student Outcomes;

  • Provide professional development and ongoing coaching to educators in order to reach school goals utilizing the Impact Cycle

  • Works with teachers to improve classroom management and belonging by implementing effective research-based instructional methods, providing site coaching through lesson observation, feedback, modeling, and facilitating job shadowing experiences, with a focus on classroom management and differentiating instruction for all learners.

  • Proficiency in Coaching

  • Facility with video and other tools to gather data

  • Attend instructional coaching professional development (such as those by Elena Aguilar or The Instructional Coaching Group)

  • Maintain official coaching logs, document data

  • Attend and contribute to weekly Instructional Coaching meetings

  • Maintain confidentiality

  • Expected workload

  • Reflect on personal growth and needs.

  • Actively seek out additional support

 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Previous Department Chair and/or Learning Team Leader/PLC and/or Administrative leadership experience

  • Experience as a grade level or department leader, collaborative team leader, mentor, or support provider

  • Minimum four (4) years full time classroom teaching experience

  • Teaching credential/certification

  • Life long learner

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to be coached

  • Maintain confidentiality

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as coachee

  • Experience in development and implementation of professional development activities preferred.

  • Lasaillian and/or Vincentian formation, or formation within Catholic educational institution

  • Interest and expertise in an education practice, such as: equity, social-emotional learning, Catholic identity, STEM, literacy etc.

Certifications and/or Licensure
Teacher Credential certification required

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree; Master's Degree preferred

Must be familiar with California State Standards in the subject area in which you hold your credential.

Must be familiar with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software applications, Google Suite; databases (such as a learning management system) and internet usage.
