Share Email Opening Apply Now Title Part Time Instructor - Electrical Apprentice  Category Part Time Instructor   Description This position may teach courses in basic and advanced electrical theory, fiber optics, PLC's, telecommunication, residential wiring and electronics. Part Time Faculty normally teach one or two courses per semester. Teaching assignments may be available for day and evening courses. Compensation is based on the total contact hours taught per semester, starting at $676 per contact hour. Benefits include State of Michigan retirement plan, tuition waiver and free membership to the ACC Wellness Center. Position Responsibilities: Teach lecture and laboratory portions of courses. Prepare and distribute course syllabi to students. Perform all preparation requirements for laboratory exercises. Evaluate student progress through examinations, quizzes, observations and laboratory reports. Act as liaison between the college and the student. Implement curriculum changes at the request of the Department Chairperson or Lead Instructor. Maintain appropriate instructional laboratories and equipment. Be available for individual student assistance advising and/or consultation as necessary. Participate in curriculum development, revisions and evaluation activities. Maintain a high level of academic competency through staff development activities. Other duties as assigned by Department Chairperson and the Vice President for Instruction. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel: This position may be required to travel outside the local area depending on the course location. Mileage reimbursement may be available. Refer to the Part-Time Faculty Handbook.   Position Requirements Position Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in Electronics Technology, Journeyman’s electrician License, and Master’s License preferred. Coursework in programmable controller’s high desirable. Minimum of five years work experience in the electrical/electronics repair and maintenance field required. Experience in electrical utility field highly desirable. Teaching experience in related occupational education program at the apprentice at the Associate degree or Secondary level desirable. Computer competency in Microsoft Office, Instructional Software and Online Instruction preferred.
