Description

Role Overview:

The Information Technology Specialist reports to both the IT Director and Principal, and their responsibilities include maintaining and installing hardware and software. They provide support for technical computer and network systems, configuring and maintaining workstations, software, hardware, and related equipment in local and/or wide-area network environments. The Specialist also performs intermediate-level troubleshooting, problem resolution, and network administration duties.

Role Responsibilities:

Major duties and responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to the following):

  •  Respond to help desk trouble calls, initiate trouble tickets, and troubleshoot and resolve basic and intermediate-level problems related to technology hardware, software, and connectivity, both remote and onsite. Refer more complicated issues to higher-level technical staff.
  •  Maintain a log or list of required repairs and maintenance.
  •  Install, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot computer systems, workstations, networks, and associated equipment.
  • Loads appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components, and office applications
  •  Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate
  • Ensure hardware is stripped and secured before disposal
  • Track and monitor inventory of technology resources
  • Support IT departmental projects across campuses as needed
  • Assist the principal with technology requests and expectations, including maintaining Chromebooks, providing technology access for teachers, preparing for tests, and managing interactive displays and projectors.
  • Implements routine preventive maintenance
  • Coordinates warranty work for assigned areas.
  • Connects users to networks and provides initial training in facilities and applications
  • Coordinates with vendors for needed technology-related services such as printer/copier maintenance
  • Performs other related duties as required during working hours

 

 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

  • Experience in installing and managing computer hardware, software, and networks
  • Proficient in troubleshooting computer issues
  • Knowledgeable about computer viruses and security measures
  • Familiar with E-mail and internet programs, particularly Google Workspace and Microsoft Environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal, presentation, and listening skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Intermediate organizational skills

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. How much daily/weekly on-the-job time is spent on the following physical activities?
