Description

SUMMARY: Coordinate all activities regarding the release, tracking, and arrival of aircraft scheduled by the Allen Corporation Training Systems Division schedulers in support of the Fort Worth flight program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Under the guidance of the Lead Dispatcher, authorizes, regulates, and controls program flights according to government and company regulations to expedite and ensure safety of flight.
  • Analyzes and evaluates meteorological information to determine potential hazards to safety of flight
  • May compute the amount of fuel required for the safe completion of flight according to type of aircraft, distance of flight, maintenance limitations, weather conditions, and minimum fuel requirements, prescribed by federal aviation regulations.
  • May prepare flight plans containing information such as maximum allowable takeoff and landing weights, weather reports, field conditions, NOTAMS, and many other informational components required for the safe completion of flight.
  • Prepares and signs the dispatch release which is the legal document providing authorization for a flight to depart.
  • Upon approval of Lead Dispatcher delays or cancels flights if unsafe conditions threaten the safety of the aircraft or passengers.
  • Monitors weather conditions, aircraft position reports, and aeronautical navigation charts to evaluate the progress of flight.
  • Participates in frequent and detailed recurrent training courses covering aircraft systems, company operations policy, meteorology and Federal Air Regulations as required by the FAA.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma with a minimum 10 years’ experience aviation experience.
  • Must have FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification/License.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Extremely detail oriented, precise, organized, and able to work independently and manage/prioritize multiple administrative projects simultaneously.
  • Must be punctual in all aspects of job performance.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational habits.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an FAA security clearance.
  • Must have good communications skills, both oral and written.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  • Able to perform general office administration activities on a daily basis.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel will not be required.
