Annual Salary: $51.4423 Hourly ($107,000)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in public administration, business administration or similar field -OR- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school;
-AND-
Three (3) or more years of experience in a court or legal setting, preferably for a probate court or probate practice area.

JOB SUMMARY: Performs highly responsible work which involves the development of services, oversight of staff and performance of responsibilities in accordance with Michigan law, Michigan Court Rules and Local Administrative Order; performs related duties as assigned by the Presiding Probate Court Judge; serves at the pleasure of the Chief Judge.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Is responsible for management of Probate Court personnel.
- Provides recommendations to the Judges on pending cases, including legal research, memoranda and draft orders, as assigned.
- Provides regular legal updates to Probate Court staff, as well as assistance to guardians ad litem, attorneys, fiduciaries and the general public.
- Assists the Probate Judges with planning, development and implementation of Probate Court policy and procedures.
- Participates in deficiency conferences with attorneys and other individuals regarding specific case issues as well as assisting the general public on Probate Court procedures.
- Monitors proposed changes in statute, court forms and court rules affecting the court.
- Provides guidance in the preparation of statistical information as required.
- Trains, assists and oversees staff.
- Signs court signature on necessary documents on behalf of the Judges or as Probate Register.
- Reviews and remains current on changes to the Estates and Protected Individuals Code, Mental Health Code and Michigan Court Rules and recommendations modifications to court procedures.
- Ensures appropriate development, implementation and operations of the technological needs of the court.
- Presides over hearings in the Probate Court, including uncontested matters and hearings in the absence of a Judge, as needed and permitted by Michigan law.
- Responsible for creating and implementing new fiduciary trainings and weekly seminar for guardianships/conservatorships.
- Maintains all Probate Court records.
- Processes informal probate estate proceedings.
- Ensures compliance with court rules.

- Ability to present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with Judges, court officials, staff and the general public.
- Ability to attend work regularly, and operate in a fast-paced environment under stressful conditions.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws, court rules and established policies and procedures.
- Ability to organize work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines and following up on work with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
