The Impact You'll Have:

Alliant Engineering has an opening for a Survey Office CAD Technician with a minimum of 2 years of experience. The qualified applicant will be able to apply land surveying principles in the preparation of varied surveying maps and documents. This position will support our survey department by processing and drafting surveying projects such as boundary surveys, existing conditions surveys, subdivision plats, common interest community plats, registered land surveys and survey exhibits. This position may occasionally support the home building services team in the preparation of Lot Certificates, Grading As-builts, Foundation As-builts, and computing earthwork calculations related to home building services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide CAD Drafting support to office staff and Professional Land Surveyors
  • Perform research, design and calculations for surveying and mapping projects using Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center
  • Prepare boundary surveys, existing conditions surveys, subdivision plats, common interest community plats, registered land surveys and survey exhibits
  • Produce Lot Certificates, Grading As-builts, Foundation As-builts and calculate earthwork volumes in support of other Housing Services Staff
  • Respond to requests for data and exhibits by internal and external clients
  • Work closely with Associate Surveyor, Senior CAD Technicians, and other Managers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 2 years of land surveying and/or civil engineering drafting experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, Bluebeam
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center and GPS data processing a plus
  • 1 year of field survey experience a plus
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Familiarity with reading surveying maps and descriptions, engineering plans, and conducting relevant computations
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team setting

The base salary for this position is expected to be in the range of $45,000 - $60,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
