Description

This is a highly visible position requiring extensive knowledge of the City of Thomasville and Thomas County to promote as a tourist destination. This position requires good communication, discretion, diplomacy, and good judgement. This position is the first point of contact for all visitors and the local community walking into the Visitors Center. This person works directly with Main Street personnel in highlighting our area attractions. This position provides support for our facility rentals of the Municipal Auditorium and The Ritz Amphitheater.

First point of contact with visitors - either in person, by telephone or through email inquiries.

Greet and help all visitors and provide answers or requested information in a timely manner.

Highly organized in managing inventory of brochures, magazines, rack cards, etc. in the Visitor's Center. Ensure that materials needed to be distributed to visitors are always on hand for distribution.

Manage the inventory and restocking of the Visitor's Center gift shop. Entering new merchandise into the Point of Sales system and placing labels on all inventory.

Maintain the Downtown Dollars registry and inventory. Processing daily and monthly point of sales reports.

Maintain and update Visitors Center Stats and Daily Deposits, tracking daily logs and assistance requests.

Manage fulfillment of welcome bags, group assistance requests, keeping records of requests. Notify and/or distribute materials to requesting party in a timely manner.

Work with the Saturday personnel to fulfill assistance requests adequately.

Manage the orderliness of the Visitor's Center to ensure it is welcoming to visitors.

Always maintain a minimum of 5 relocation packets to fulfill requests.

Responsible for facilitation of all ticket sales for auditorium events sponsored by the City of Thomasville.

Assist with the annual events, including but not limited to Rose Show and Festival, Victorian Christmas, First Friday, Holiday Open House and other downtown events planned by Main Street and Marketing.

Operates as point of contact for re-ordering office supplies.

Provides support in the facility management of our Municipal Building and The Ritz Amphitheater, putting in work orders and assisting rental requests as needed.

 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

Associates Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field or 5 years equivalent experience in Business Management, Marketing, Communications or related field

Experience in Point-of-Sale Systems needed

Retail Experience highly valued

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

High level understanding of bookkeeping is required

Knowledge of sales is needed

Highly effective written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Ability to work independently and as a team member

Extraordinary people skills

Efficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Spreadsheets

Knowledge of downtown development

Proficient computer skills

Knowledge of travel statistics and research of travel trends

Active involvement in community and civic programs and events

Travel experience as an individual and with a group

 
Physical/Environmental Requirements Mobility to work in typical office settings using standard office equipment, ability to drive and some lifting of boxes weighing approximately thirty lds is required. In addition, vision to read printed materials and computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. General office setting, retail store setting, frequent interruptions, deadlines.
