Description

CMCSB is seeking a highly motivated person to assist in the daily operation of OUR House, a psychosocial rehabilitative program located in Grundy, VA.  OUR House provides support, guidance and recovery-oriented activities to individuals with long term mental illness.  Program Advocate responsibilities include providing basic case management,  supervising work activities of the members during vocational enhancement programs, transporting individuals to and from the program and on community outings, conducting educational groups, and responding to medical or behavioral emergencies using agency-approved techniques. 

 
Position Requirements

Associates or Bachelor’s in human service related field preferred, QMHP preferred, High School Diploma/GED required. Candidate must have ability to effectively communicate with members, good computer skills in order to complete trainings and enter data, basic knowledge of mental illness, and effective problem solving skills.  Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, if required, to meet program needs.   Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record, and be able to operate a van to transport program members.

About the Organization CMCSB was formed in 1972 as a Chapter 10 Community Services Board under Virginia law. CMCSB provides mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse treatment services to the residents of Buchanan, Russell, and Tazewell Counties. At the present time, CMCSB operates over twenty locations, to include outpatient offices, mental health recovery programs, group homes and day support programs for intellectually disabled individuals, and a residential alcohol and drug treatment program. In addition, CMCSB has several services that are provided directly in an individual's home or in a supported environment. CMCSB also provides a 24-hour crisis team to assist community agencies and individuals in crisis situations. CMCSB employs approximately 500 employees, which include full-time and part-time employees, as well as individuals receiving services who are employed to work in various day programs.
