Job Summary

The Regional Manager, Nutrition, and Dietetic Services will be required to efficiently manage all Nutrition and Dietetic Services within the South-West Regional Health Authority.

The Authority reserves the right to assign the officer to any Facility under its management.

 
Position Requirements

The core functions include but not limited to the following:

  • Oversees the supervision of all Nutrition and Dietetic Services at the South-West Regional Health Authority.
  • Works as a member of the management team in formulation of strategic plans for nutrition and dietetic services.
  • Prepares the budget for the department and monitors and controls the fiscal performance of the department.
  • Coordinates and integrates administrative and clinical aspects of nutritional care to ensure that cost effective and efficient services are maintained both at the level of the hospital and community.
  • Designs and implement a quality assurance programme for Nutrition and Dietetic Services.
  • Establishes criteria and monitors performance of contracted food and dietetic services.
  • Establishes and maintains effective inter and intra-departmental communications and relationships.
  • Confers with the Manager, Nutrition & Dietetic Services, Ministry of Health regarding planning and implementation of national community – based programmes that will impact on programmes the south - west region.
  • Confers with other department heads regarding technical and administrative aspects of Nutrition and Dietetic Services.
  • Coordinates the collection and use of departmental statistical data.
  • Develops and implements departmental policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Approves requests of the Nutrition and Dietetic Services Department on ReqLogic.
  • Develops Scopes of Works for tenders for the Nutrition and Dietetic Services Department in collaboration with the General Manager Supply Chain.
  • Develops and implements food service disaster support for the region.
  • Develops and implements a plan for the propagation of food/produce by the Authority.
  • Develops and recommends the relevant standards for food donors to the Authority.
  • Collaborates with the necessary stakeholders to establish and operate a staff cafeteria.
  • Attends hospital staff conferences and shares information with nutrition and dietetic staff regarding new developments and trends.
  • Participates in the recruitment of Nutrition and Dietetic Services personnel.
  • Manages performance of all Nutrition and Dietetic staff.
  • Responsible for appraisal and development of staff.
  • Establishes and implements training programmes for all categories of Nutrition and Dietetic Services personnel.
  • Responsible for health promotion and counseling of patients.
  • Performs other related duties as may be required
  • Ability to perform duties according to assigned rosters or plans that can be formulated in times of authorized service exigencies.
  • Ability to use the revelent computer applications related to job functions.

 

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • The incumbent must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • The incumbent must possess a Diploma in Management or any related field.
  • The incumbent must have eight (8) years’ experience in Nutrition & Dietetics; five (5) of which must be at a managerial/supervisory level.
  • The incumbent must also have experience and/or training in health education and at least five (5) years’ work experience at a general hospital and with training and experience as a Senior Dietitian.
  • Membership with the Trinidad & Tobago Association of Nutritionists & Dietitians and the Caribbean Association of Nutritionists and Dietitians or similar association/body will be an asset.
  • The incumbent must be registered with the Nutritionists & Dietitians Board of Trinidad & Tobago.
