Description

In this role you will be responsible for the tool set-up for production runs, operating molding presses, monitor production runs and visually inspecting parts for defects.

Summary of Duties Include:

Work Cell Set up
1. Accurately and efficiently positions, aligns and secures molds to injection molding machine and connects
waterlines, mold heaters, temperature controllers and hydraulics as outlined in set up instructions within the
quoted time.
2. Sets up and cleans hoppers and other equipment to avoid contamination and to prepare raw materials for
processing (including tear down and cleans)
3. Sets up fixtures, work tables, box holders, sonic welders, hot stampers, additive feeders and other
appropriate equipment. (production work cell)
4. Starts up machine to obtain start up workpiece(s) and communicates with QA personnel or Shift Supervisor to
obtain approval of acceptable product per customer specifications.
5. Engages in team set-up to reduce set-up time.
6. Documents start up process and/or process changes in the press set up notebooks and daily records
machine cycle times.
7. Dismantle set up and puts equipment, molds and tools (clamps/hoses etc.) in their proper storage area,
including complete teardown & clean (TDC) of screw & barrel in a timely fashion.
8. Keep assigned machines clean and well maintained, including clean-up of area after each set-up.
9. Perform tooling preventative maintenance per the set-up instructions, including activities such as clean,
lubricate, and spraying of parting lines with protectant.
10. Responsible for the quality level of the raw materials (includes drying material) used in the injection process to
assure quality product.
Process Duties
11. Performs initial machine and automation start-up.
12. Effectively performs basic troubleshooting of injection molding process and automation
13. Completes all job run recordkeeping accurately and timely.
14. Actively assists in maintaining production goals.
15. Reports needs for mold or assembly line repairs to appropriate personnel and/or immediate supervisor.
16. Partners with Process Technician to maintain work cell uptime targets / scheduled.
Knowledge / Skill Development
17. Develops processing knowledge of materials, additives and dyes, including application of scientific molding
principles.
18. Basic understanding of the 6S's
19. Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvement, Total Productivity, principles by offering
suggestions for improvement and playing an active role in the implementation of improvements.
20. Develop skills and seeks out growth opportunities while supporting corporate principals.
Other
21. Assists in weighing, counting, inventory reporting, packing and storage of finished product.
22. Relieves operators for duties during rest periods.
23. Monitor schedule priorities and responds to manage highest priorities.
24. Work collaboratively in a team environment with spirit of cooperation.
25. Display excellent communication skills in interacting with internal personnel and external parties to include third-party auditors.
26. Must have the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
27. Engaged actively looking for opportunities to improve our processes, procedures, communication, culture,
etc.

 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Has the minimal skills necessary to operate a computer. Can log on to a computer system, navigate in windows, perform simple tasks within applications and enter information into a database.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
