As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for completing financial accounting and financial reporting tasks including but not limited to month end close, general ledger reconciliations, completing processing routines for accounts payable, SEC reporting, management reporting as well as regulatory reporting.
Specifically, as a Financial Accountant you will:
Play an integral role in ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of all month-end processing necessary to close the books and records of a group of assigned companies.
Be responsible for preparing journal entries, analyzing the financial results of an assigned group of companies and compiling financial statements and analysis reports for Entity Presidents.
Complete assigned tasks associated with SEC filings, regulatory reports, preparing internal financial reports for management and the board of directors, and creating and automating financial reports out of our general ledger and management reporting system.
Assist in the accounts payable processing routine, including remitting vendor payments in a timely manner, coding transactions to ensure proper expense recognition, responding to internal and external customer inquiries regarding the nature and timing of expenses, maintaining 1099 records for vendors and reporting them to the IRS annually.
As part of SOX compliance, ensure that assigned tasks are completed timely and accurately and the appropriate level of scrutiny applied to each process and transaction, as well as complete a series of assigned general ledger reconciliations and process accounts payable transactions while adhering to established controls.
Complete a variety of other tasks as time permits and additional challenges are requested or required.
Be expected to embrace change and identify process efficiencies to further advance the capacity of the team and department.
- 4 year accounting degree from an accredited institution required
- Prior relevant experience preferred, but not required
- Interest in pursuing, or already working towards the CPA designation desirable
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to prioritize work to meet numerous levels of deadlines
- Exhibit strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to demonstrate significant focus and utilization of business computer applications
- Demonstrated confidence and ability to work independently and as a team
- Ability to work overtime during critical reporting periods, and function in a fast-paced work environment
