Primary Care Nurse Manager - {Internal/External}

Job Summary:

 

The Primary Care Nurse Manager plans, directs and supervises the public health nursing activities in a cluster/county. The employee is also required to deliver health talks on public health matters and to investigate reports on cases of infectious diseases reported and to take such public health action as is necessary.

The Authority reserves the right to assign the officer to any Facility under its management.

 

The core functions include but not limited to the following:

 

  • Manages community health nursing activities within the region for special programmes, e.g. mobile clinics.
  • Plans, monitors and evaluates the health outcome(s) of special programmes.
  • Identifies health needs in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team, and makes appropriate interventions.
  • Prepares budget proposals for the assigned cluster/county.
  • Participates in policy making and planning for health care delivery and development.
  • Identifies health needs from health surveillance activities and co-ordinates the activities for health promotion/health gains.
  • Monitors continuous quality improvement at the primary health care facilities in the region.
  • Prepares standards for the provision of primary health nursing care.
  • Interprets regional policies and plans for nursing personnel under her supervision.
  • Collaborates with members of the multi-disciplinary team and other stakeholders on matters relating to nursing/health issues.
  • Assists in the development of strategies for the implementation of primary health care nursing policies.
  • Supervises and co-ordinates human resource management and development in community.
  • Plans and provides oversight of the implementation of the Antenatal Clinics in a cluster/county.
  • Plans and provides strategic oversight of the home visiting programme in a cluster/county.
  • Ability to perform duties according to assigned rosters or plans that can be formulated in times of authorized service exigencies.
  • Ability to use the relevant computer applications related to job functions.
  • Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by the Authority.
 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications, Training and Experience:

 

  • A first Degree related to Nursing
  • A Diploma in Health Visiting
  • Ten (10) years experience in continuous nursing practice, five (5) of which must be at managerial/supervisory level.
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Member of a professional body will be an asset.
  • Diploma in Management.
