Share Email Opening Title Assistant Nurse Manager - {Internal/External}  Description Job Summary: The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager with the co-ordinating of nursing/ patient care delivery services. The Authority reserves the right to assign the officer to any Facility under its management. The core functions include but not limited to the following: Assists in the implementation of a nursing operational plan. Takes and gives over the institution’s nursing and patient care delivery services. Collaborates with Patient Care Co-ordinators to ensure adequate staffing of nursing department and resolve patient care issues. Reports to Nurse Manager on the nursing and patient care status of the institution. Arranges visits to nursing departments on matters of critical/rewarding nature. Ensures nursing coverage in the event of patient care needs/absence of nursing personnel. Assists in the collaboration with Heads of Allied Health Services /Medical Departments on matters related to nursing/patient care. Assists Nurse Manager in the adherence of the standards, policies and procedures pertinent to nursing/patient care delivery. Collaborates with Patient Care Co-ordinators in the provision of continuing education. Maintains staff morale and the promotion of good working relationships. Provides supervision and support to all staff, thereby assisting in their professional growth and development. Ensures that all policies and procedures are strictly adhered to by all members of staff and initiate disciplinary procedures when necessary. Ensures that nursing students receive their practical training. Ensures that an annual vacation plan is effectively developed. Monitors the implementation of the annual vacation plan. Receives daily reports per shift from Patient Care Co-ordinators or Assistants. Prepares and submits daily reports to the Nurse Manager. Ability to perform duties according to assigned rosters or plans that can be formulated in times of authorized service exigencies. Ability to use the relevant computer applications related to job functions. Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by the Authority.     Position Requirements Required Qualifications, Training and Experience: A first degree in Nursing. A Diploma or Certificate in Nursing Management would be an asset. A minimum of eight (8) years continuous nursing experience three (3) of which must be at managerial/supervisory level. Current registration with the Nursing Council of Trinidad & Tobago.
