Summary/Objective:

The Specialist, Membership, Impact and Industry will support the Academy’s accessibility, sustainability and industry work through events and programs under the direction and guidance of the Senior Director, Member and Industry Relations. They will also provide support for membership events, programs, and initiatives such as the Affinity Groups, New Member Receptions, Member Conversations and occasionally assist with branch-related events and meetings.

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, proactive, passionate, and efficient individual who can anticipate needs, work cooperatively, and act with discretion. The Specialist must be able to work closely with departments across the Academy as well as liaise professionally with industry and community partners. They must also possess knowledge of ADA compliance, CRM and Airtable data management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, superior organization and time management skills, and the ability to effectively oversee multiple projects at once.

 

Essential Functions of the Job: 

  • Support all Academy accessibility and sustainability industry initiatives, this includes events, programs, panels, and meetings.
  • Assess and assist with the implementation of accessible and sustainable procedures, and monitor improvements.
  • Lead data tracking during Oscars pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Assist in planning, preparation, and execution of special membership events, including production, invitations, and leading check-in.
  • Demonstrate an ability to plan, implement, investigate, and coordinate compliance. Conduct research, interviews, and reports findings. Conduct comparative analyses, evaluate results, and make recommendations for remedies and overall impact.
  • Demonstrate an advanced ability to identify, understand, address, or refer issues to leadership. Handle a range of routine to complex issues and refer an issue or consult with the appropriate people inside or outside the organization.
  • Provide administrative support, including notetaking, drafting correspondence, prepping documents, maintaining files, and tracking deadlines as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a professional and genial tone with Academy Members, community and industry partners, talent, guests, clients, and peers.

 

Required Competencies:  

  • A bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-4 years of knowledge and experience in event production.
  • Prior film industry or film organization experience preferred.
  • Ability to work discreetly and professionally with high-level executives, VIPs, the Board of Governors, Academy members, industry partners, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Expert skills with CRM, Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, Airtable, Dropbox, Zoom, Zkipster.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with other members of the Member Relations and Awards team as well as other Academy departments and outside companies.
  • Excellent strategic, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under supervision.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned during the awards season.
  • Other duties and special projects as needed.

Compensation: The expected salary for this role is $24.00 per hour. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
