Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the leadership and direction of Early Childhood Education Centers in the areas of: quality service delivery, data collection, implementation and evaluation and budget development.  Supervises, coaches and supports ECE Directors. Ensures that programs are in alignment with YWCA’s mission and values. In addition, the position partners with various YWCA departments to ensure that Early Childhood practices are in alignment with Human Resources, Finance/Accounting and MIS standards and procedures. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leads and directs Early Childhood Education Centers:

  • Manage the implementation of Early Childhood Curriculum by following the YWCA’s ELM Curriculum to ensure alignment with Early Childhood best practices, YWCA mission/values, state licensing and NAEYC requirements.

 

 

Provide leadership and supervision:

  • Practice, manage and promote the YWCA’s mission, organizational and departmental policies and procedures to become an intricate part of the everyday operation.
  • Provide guidance and direction to ECE Directors, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Review and evaluate programs with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate staff development through learning opportunities that align with organizational and Early Childhood departmental mission, plans and values.
  • Recruit, hire, train and coach direct reports. Work with Human Resources to anticipate current and future staffing needs. 

 

 

Administration:

 Reporting and Compliance:

  • Manage compliance and reporting for government contracts, licensing, accreditation and grants.

 

 Financial Management and Marketing:     

  • Manage development and achievement of program budgets.

 

Community Involvement and Advocacy:

  • Participate on community boards/groups working on Early Childhood Education with a focus on low-income families and families of color.

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Vice President, Early Childhood Education. The incumbent will interact with Early Childhood Education Directors, parents, children, Controller, Enrollment and Nutrition Manager,  Human Resources, community organizations and representatives.

 

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or the equivalent.
    • Minimum of five years of Early Childhood Center Director experience with a minimum of three years of experience with diverse populations.
    • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience, including experience with budgeting and financial management.
    • Strong understanding of financial principles, including financial management, statistics, analysis and reporting.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing complex financial data from various sources (government, scholarships, etc.).
    • Strong Knowledge of Early Childhood Education and Developmentally Appropriate Practice
    • Strong interpersonal, oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Products, including Word and Excel.
    • Strong teambuilding, interpersonal, coaching and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent planning and implementation skills.  
    • Proven skills in leadership, customer service and staff development.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse styles, cultures and perspectives.
    • Strong conflict resolution skills.
    • Excellent critical thinking skills                                              

 

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in Early Childhood Education or Administration preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The Employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work at a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Individual must have the ability to get to and from various sites/events/meetings in the metro area on a frequent basis.
