Description

LifeSource is recruiting a Director of Finance to be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting, and managing all accounting operations.

Key duties include overseeing cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory reporting while driving insights through advanced analytics. The role also emphasizes maintaining internal controls, leading audits, and managing a high-performing finance team. In partnership with senior leaders and stakeholders, the individual will provide financial guidance that supports strategic goals and fosters a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

 

As Director of Finance, you'll advance our lifesaving mission by performing the following duties:

Financial Leadership:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, legal regulations, and financial policies.

 

Financial Management:

  • Oversee all accounting operations and functions including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Allocations, CMS cost reports, Fixed Assets, Investments, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships to ensure financial stability.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and the timely completion of audits.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Coordinate or conduct the preparation of regulatory reporting.

 

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee the creation of internal reporting to properly manage the organization towards strategic goals
  • Lead the use of advanced analytics tools and methodologies to enhance financial insights, improve forecasting accuracy, and support data-driven decision-making.

 

Compliance and Internal Controls:

  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.

 

Audit and Reporting:

  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Lead the annual audit processes, coordinate with external auditors, and assess & apply any changes necessary.
  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.

 

Supervision & Team Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor a team of professionals.
  • Ensure that the finance team is trained and adequately skilled.
  • Evaluate and manage performance, providing leadership and development opportunities.
  • Support the organization’s purpose and values by fostering community and expecting operational excellence

 

Strategic Planning:

  • Assist the CFO in financial strategy and planning.
  • Provide insights into financial performance and contribute to business development and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the organization's purpose and values by ensuring financial sustainability and integrity.

 

Business Partnership:

  • Collaborate proactively across departments to break down silos, foster a culture of partnership, and deliver financial insights that drive efficient, informed, and strategically aligned operational decisions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on financial matters and business strategy.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their financial needs and deliver tailored solutions.

 

Schedule/Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, primary hours Monday-Friday business hours.
  • This role is hybrid on-site in Minneapolis. (not eligible for fully remote)

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to 15 years of Accounting or Finance experience.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years proven leadership, mentoring and coaching experience.
  • CPA, MBA, or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Experience in intercompany accounting is strongly desired. This includes a track record in establishing new legal entities, effectively overseeing and optimizing intercompany accounting processes, and managing financial consolidations along with associated reporting.
  • Expertise in non-profit healthcare accounting standards, regulatory compliance, CMS cost reporting, or experience within Organ Procurement Organizations (OPO) is desirable.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software, financial planning and reporting tools, MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes, enhance automation, and drive outcomes with the use of critical thinking, analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of managing, developing and retaining team members.

 

Projected offer range: $145-170K base, based on relevant experience
